I put most of the major writing on hold as I do some research. I figured I have the summer to do it. My goal, is if I don't have the novel done by fall, it WILL be done by the end of the year.
The one difficult thing I'm encountering with research is the chosen time period isn't overly popular, so I might have to dig harder. I'm finding a LOT out about the potato famine, but I was hoping to go into the years proceeding it in this book. I'm becoming so interested in what I find, that I want to delver deeper into Eliza's story (she's Calista's ancestor from Ireland in the early 1800's). But I know I can't overload this novel. So I'm already throwing around the idea of there being a sequel from Eliza's perspective. Yeah, I'm still in the beginning stages of my novel and I'm already planning another! Crazy! LOL
So, for now, I'll try to concentrate on getting enough info to give the glimpses into Eliza's life like I originally planned. Her whole story will have to wait and we'll see if I even finish this book before planning another. ;)
